April 2011 Newsletter

Egg Hunt!! :
The Little Academy is planning a Egg Hunt!! It will be on Wednesday April 20th ! Please send 6 plastic eggs stuffed with your childs favorite goodies. We will furnish the basket/ container for the hunt. It’s eggs! It’s gonna be LOTS of FUN!!

Lost and Found :
Last call for our Lost & Found!! We are getting a little too full in the Lost & Found located in the Lunchroom. PLEASE look thru the clothing and blankets because we plan to goodwill whatever is left at the end of April!

Easter Pictures:
We have arranged for Don Fewell Photography to come and bring live Easter Bunnies for pictures this year!! Picture day will be Tuesday April 12th- starting between 8 and 8:30 a.m. if you would like to come and be present for the pictures.  Older siblings & others welcome!

DRIVING UP THE WRONG WAY
Please remember that the entrance on the front of the church is a ONE WAY. This has been put in place for a reason– the path is too narrow for two vehicles to pass at the same time AND it also eliminates the students having to watch for traffic coming in both directions. PLEASE DO NOT COME UP THE WRONG WAY- it puts our students in danger!

New Students!!
We would like to welcome our 5 new students!!! We are so happy to welcome new members to our growing family here at the Little Academy!!

HAPPY EASTER!!

March 2011 Newsletter

Changes around the Academy:
As you may have noticed, we have been doing some re-arranging around the academy! Both creating new rooms and having to move some of our students around. We have been blessed with MANY more students, therefore having to grow and create two new classrooms!!!

Lost and Found :
We have created a “Lost and Found” table located right next to the lunchroom and across from Ms. Summers Class. It has several jackets and sippy cups on it- if you are missing any of those items- please check there!

New Staff and Staff Schedules:
We have had to hire more staff to help man the hours we are open and the new classes we have created. In effort to keep familiar faces for the children, we are working on schedules to hopefully keep the same afternoon teacher relieve the same morning teacher. We are open eleven and a half hours and we just can’t keep the same teachers here all day everyday! If you have any questions about the changes or a problem with any of the changes we have made- PLEASE contact Ms. Brenda or Ms. Brandi.

Bad WeatherReminder:
Please make note that we try to keep parents abreast of any closing or delays via phone, text, facebook, Fox 6, 33/40. Please check facebook first- we usually update it before anything else. Also, if you would like to have Ms. Brandi send you a text- please contact her with your cell number and she will add you on her phone.

BLUE SLIPS Needed!!:
Its that time of year where we have our files checked for current blue slips. We will post a list on the office bulletin board of the students who need updated blue slips from their doctors office. Please check to see if your child is listed!!

REMINDER!! DON’T FORGET TO WEAR GREEN Thursday March 17th & Have a Happy St. Patricks Day!!!

February 2011 Newsletter

Monday February 14th is Valentines Day!!! We will be having parties in each classroom at 9:30 a.m.. Teachers will provide a classroom roster to each student for use with their Valentine cards. Candy, Cupcakes, Refreshments, etc from parents will be optional, but welcomed!! TLA will be providing all papergoods, food and drinks.

Names on Belongings:
Please remember to put your child’s name on ALL BELONGINGS!! This includes coats, jackets, caps, gloves, blankets, pillows, extra clothes, sippy cups, etc. This helps the teachers keep up with your stuff!! There are several students who has the same cups, blankets, and jackets!!! It can be real confusing! Also, we have created a “Lost and Found” table located right next to the lunchroom and across from the centers. It has several jackets and sippy cups on it- if you are missing any of those items- please check there!

Sick Policy Reminder
Please remember that if your child is running fever of 100.5 or greater or vomiting- keep them home at least 24 hours unless released by a doctor excuse to return to school. We are trying to keep our students healthy and keep the flu season at bay!

Bad Weather
We appologize for inconveniencing you if we have to close due to bad weather/road conditions. But here at The Little Academy, we don’t have a “set policy” for bad weather- BUT the reason for that is because Walker County school system can close due to weather/ road conditions that may not directly affect our immediate area. We try to accomidate parents if the roads are in good condition and open so you can got to work! Due to no set policy, we try to keep parents abreast of our schedule via phone, text, facebook, Fox 6, 33/40. Please check facebook first- we usually update it before anything else. Also, if you would like to have Ms. Brandi send you a text- please contact her with your cell number and she will add you on her phone.

Welcoming some New Faces at TLA!!
We are so excited to welcome 10 new students to the Little Academy Family!!! They range in age from the nursery to K4! Also, another new face around the school is our new Toddler2 class- Ms.Summer!!! She will now be teaching in our new class!!! Ms.Summer was our current substitute teacher and is a mother of two students & now she will be a full-time TLA family member!
